Established by Birmingham LGBT in 2009, SHOUT Festival of queer arts and culture brings the best in queer and Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Trans* (LGBT) artists, work, and culture from across the UK and beyond to Birmingham. We ignite debate, inspire discussion, increase representation and showcase the work of queer artists across the city.
SHOUT is the West Midlands’ only combined festival of queer arts and culture, returning to Birmingham each November delivering a ten-day festival showcasing the best of queer performance, theatre, visual arts, and film from across the UK and beyond. In addition to this we deliver a year round cultural programme of events, arts, and performances striving to increase the visibility and presence of queer arts throughout the city.
Since launching we have established a reputation of international quality, our programme aims to reflect the diversity of the LGBT community and regularly new commissions, premieres & partnerships with many of the city's most prominent arts venues and organisations.
SHOUT remains a place to celebrate diversity, push boundaries, challenge views, explore meaning and provides a platform for the voices and experiences of queer people. We have increased the profile of queer arts in the region. We aim to be an inclusive and distinctive festival, developing talent, encouraging participation and challenging artists and audiences to think in new ways.
